in asia, long hair was considered to be a sign of wealth, beauty and youth. for a woman to cut her hair was a sin and it was shamed upon. it began to change when women began cutting their hair and it symbolised ‘letting go of the past’ and starting anew, to leave all the negative energy and feelings behind- that tradition still lives on today both in asia and all around the world.
